SEPTIC TANK INFO

All waste water from your house is discharged through the septic system (unless, you have a dedicated “grey water system installed”, grey water can only come from your laundry, and bathrooms, kitchen water is black water, as it will contain fat and food waste), it is a fallacy to believe that your septic system does not ever need pumping out. It is very common for people to call us, and say their septic has not been pumped out for 30 years. For most of these people it will be too late, and their leach drains, will be loaded/blocked with septic sludge.

Essentially it is common sense, but as a septic system is generally out of sight, it is always over looked, until it becomes blocked, and the toilet stops flushing.

Septics need to be serviced, they should be regularly cleaned, at least every 4 – 8 years, they should be cleaned for the following reasons:
– To reduce environmental pollution- your septics build up heavy metals, from the house pipe work/taps, household chemicals & vitamins and minerals the human body discharges. Waste water from your septics, are generally discharged through a drainage field, which is in your garden, so discharged waste water, slowly deposits contaminates into the soil, which can get washed into streams and ground water, and thus our environment.

– To protect your leach drain, from clogging up with septic sludge.- a costly thing to replace.

– To prevent those unexpected blockages, which usually occur on the weekend, or public holidays.

– Accidental disposal of sanitary items – ‘Imagine what 20 yrs of tampons looks like’, it ain’t pretty..

– It is recommended by the WA Health Department, and local councils.

– It will cost you less in the long run.

Please for the love of god, do not put sanitary items in your septic system or the sewer, this is the worst thing you can do to your septic, it is common sense really, as you are putting an item that is anti-bacterial, into a “live” mini ecosystem where you are using naturally occurring bacteria to digest, human and food waste to produce carbon, the basis of all organic life.

BASICALLY IF IT IS “PLASTIC”, IT AIN’T FANTASTIC!…POO..PAPER & PEE ONLY..PLEASE!

So do yourself and the environment a favor, if your toilet “is not flushing properly, or you are hearing gurgling noises”, call Exit Waste to pump your sewage tank…`Before it becomes a problem!
